Using the Programmatic bulk Import

The Programmatic Bulk Import

If you’re already using Relevant Yield and Relevant has configured the Programmatic Bulk Import for your account, then it is advised to use this functionality from time-to-time (e.g. once a week). It will pick up recently added placements in your adserver and SSP accounts so that the data is included in your reports.

The reason this import is not done automatically is because there might be cases where inconsistencies in naming of placements will cause placements to be mapped incorrectly. Because of this the bulk import includes a step where you can review and change the mapping before the import is done.

To see if you have data that is currently missing in the normal Yield reports, please select Admin => Missing SSP traffic. It will look something like below:

If there is any substantial data in this report you can then do the bulk import by  going to Publisher accounts and then scroll to the bottom where you’ll find the Programmatic bulk import button:

The dialog will look something like this:

Näyttökuva 2021-11-16 kello 11.35.25

In general you don’t need to change any of the settings, but in case you have a lot of traffic without revenue on the Missing SSP Traffic page you can consider checking the Only import placements with revenue (not only traffic) checkbox. (press SAVE AS DEFAULT to save it until next time you open the dialog).

Now you should press the GENERATE STRUCTURE button. This doesn't make any changes in the system but will show you what SSP placements that should be added where, once you press the PERFORM IMPORT button later (that is doing the actual updates):

Now you'll see where the new SSP placements will be added (gray text means existing objects - publishers/sites/placements while black once are new ones). To also see all of the existing structure, including publishers/sites/placements where nothing will be added - tick the Show all of existing checkbox.

The placements under Failed matches to the right are the ones where the import couldn’t determine which new or existing Publisher + Site + Placement the SSP placement belongs to. In that case these placements must be added manually later by using the Publisher pages.

When you see SSP placements that are in the wrong place you can move them somewhere else by checking them and press the first MOVE button, like below.

If you don't want to import the placement now you can press the EXCLUDE FROM THIS IMPORT button.

You can use the other sets of MOVE/EXCLUDE... buttons to do the same thing, but on the placement/site level for selected new placements/sites that are about to be created.

When pressing MOVE you have the option to move the selected object(s) to the desired correct location, like this:

programmatic_bulk_import_move_exclude

You'll see the changes in the tree after pressing OK.

When everything looks fine, you can do the actual update of the system by pressing the PERFORM IMPORT button:
programmatic_bulk_import_perform_import

NOTICE: All placements that you see in the tree-view to the left will be imported (unless Show all of existing has been selected, where everything will be shown). The checkboxes are only used for the MOVE/EXCLUDE.. functionality, they don’t indicate if placements will be imported or not.

So, to conclude, it's recommended to do an import every 1-2 weeks in order to not "lose" too much traffic in the reports, but most of the time it should only be a procedure of simply pressing the GENERATE and PERFORM IMPORT buttons.
